Mleiha Fort

Mleiha Fort belongs to the large archaeological settlement that flourished in the late pre-Islamic period. Excavated walls and surrounding finds point to administration, defence and long-distance contacts, while nearby tombs and workshops make the fort part of a complex town rather than a lone desert structure. The site rewards a slow visit because low walls, tombs, soil changes and scattered structures can be easy to overlook. Use interpretation panels and nearby museums to connect the remains with agriculture, metallurgy, seafaring and trade linking southeastern Arabia with Mesopotamia, Iran and the Indus region. Stay on marked paths, never remove pottery or stone, and avoid climbing. The landscape itself is part of the evidence, showing how water, mountains, desert and coast shaped settlement over thousands of years.
