Algarve Coast: Faro, Albufeira & Lagos Old Town
Overview
A three-day south Portugal coastal route from Faro west to Albufeira and Lagos. Keep one base city per day, allow realistic regional drive or train transfers, and cluster at most three visits within each town rather than attempting the whole coast in one day.
Day-by-day itinerary
1Day 1 — Day 1 — Faro’s old town & Ria Formosa
- Start in Faro with a walk through the walled old town and waterfront, then enjoy a short boat or local transfer for a Ria Formosa viewpoint. Keep the day around the lagoon and centre.
2Day 2 — Day 2 — Albufeira old town & waterfront
- Transfer west from Faro in the morning. Explore Albufeira’s historic centre, then descend to Praia dos Pescadores and finish along the central waterfront; keep the visits walkable and local.
3Day 3 — Day 3 — Lagos historic centre & Ponta da Piedade
- Continue west from Albufeira to Lagos. Visit the castle walls and compact historic centre on foot, then finish at the marina and waterfront. Allow transfer time between towns and keep the day centred on Lagos.
