Évora Historic Centre and Sacred Heritage
Overview
A relaxed three-day walking itinerary through Évora’s compact UNESCO-listed historic centre. Each day groups no more than three nearby sites, allowing time for visits and short breaks. The route stays on foot within the old town, with an estimated 2–4 km of walking per day depending on detours.
Day-by-day itinerary
1Day 1 — Giraldo Square and Roman Évora
- Start at Giraldo Square, the old town’s central meeting point.
- Walk to the Roman Temple and explore the surrounding historic lanes.
- Visit the nearby Palace of the Dukes of Cadaval.
2Day 2 — Cathedral, Convent and Roman Baths
- Visit Évora Cathedral and its cloister.
- Continue on foot to the Convent of Lóios beside the Roman Temple.
- Finish at the Roman Baths in the historic centre.
3Day 3 — São Francisco and Sacred Art
- Visit São Francisco Church and the adjoining Chapel of Bones.
- Walk through the southern historic quarter to Igreja da Graça.
- Allow extra time for the church interiors and nearby lanes.
