Évora Megalithic Route: Almendres and Zambujeiro
Overview
A full-day rural archaeology loop from Évora to the western megalithic sites. Visit Almendres Cromlech and the nearby Menhir of Almendres, then continue by car to the Great Dolmen of Zambujeiro. Plan around 35–45 km of total driving depending on route, plus short walks on uneven ground; a car or organized tour is essential.
Day-by-day itinerary
1Day 1 — Almendres Megaliths and Zambujeiro Dolmen
- Drive from Évora to Almendres Cromlech and walk among the stone circle.
- Continue to the nearby Menhir of Almendres.
- Drive onward to the Great Dolmen of Zambujeiro; allow for rural roads and a short walk at each stop.
