Lisbon, Sintra & Évora: Capital to Alentejo
Overview
A three-day central-south Portugal introduction: stay based in Lisbon first, take a short regional train to Sintra for the palace-and-park landscape, then continue inland to Évora for Alentejo heritage. One city per day and no more than three visits daily.
Day-by-day itinerary
1Day 1 — Day 1 — Lisbon’s Baixa & historic core
- Explore Baixa and the old centre on foot, connecting the riverfront, a central square and a major historic landmark. Avoid crossing the whole city between stops.
2Day 2 — Day 2 — Sintra palaces & historic village
- Take the train from Lisbon to Sintra and start early. Focus on the historic centre and one palace/park visit with its grounds; use the local bus or shuttle up the hill and keep the day to three sights.
3Day 3 — Day 3 — Évora’s walled old town & Roman heritage
- Continue inland to Évora and spend the day inside or close to the historic walls. Pair the Roman Temple and cathedral quarter with a calm walk through the whitewashed streets; no long cross-region side trips.
