The Bastion of Bab Marrakech
About this place
The Bastion of Bab Marrakech tower is located southwest of the Medina of Essaouira, at the eastern corner of the section of the wall housing the monumental gate of the same name. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since December 2001, this tower now houses an art gallery, while an open-air stage occupies its roof. Built in the 1950th century, this bastion was initially used as a powder magazine and a munitions warehouse. During the period of the French protectorate, it was also used as a stable for horses before being abandoned in the XNUMXs. | Travel to Morocco, Visit Morocco, Voyage au Maroc , Vacances, Morocco Tourism.
