Bab El Kasbah
Bab El Kasbah
About this place
The Gate of Bab Kasbah or Bab Marshan, one of four entrances into the walled city of the Kasbah, occupies the space where the north gate of the Roman Tingis once lied. During the English occupation of Tangier, the gate was renamed Peterborough Gate. Even today, the remains of the original Roman wall lie in the place of the adjacent walls. It is also one of the most prized places in Tangier by painters of all eras, such as David Roberts, Henry Ossawa Tanner or Delacroix.
