Kasbah Museum of Mediterranean Cultures
About this place
Located in the Dar El-Makhzen Palace, inside the fortified city of the medina, the Kasbah Museum of Mediterranean Cultures is one of the most precious public monuments in Tangier. Built in 1151 of the Muslim era (1782-1783 D.C.) by the pasha Ahmed Ali Rifi on the English Upper Castle and, according to legend, in the very spot where the temple dedicated to Hercules was built, this archeological museum is very appreciated for its treasure room, its central courtyard, its garden and its extraordinary Roman mosaic representing the arrival of Venus.
