Tower of Hercules

This lighthouse preserves a Roman core beneath later rebuilding, including major work completed in 1791. Its position above the Atlantic recalls the importance of navigation along this coast. Study the tower as an ancient working structure adapted to serve successive generations of seafarers. The tower is also known by its ancient connection with Brigantium, linking it with the Roman geography of the region. Later restoration changed the exterior while retaining the importance of the location. The monument is best understood through both its surviving fabric and the practical task of guiding ships along the coast.
