The Coffee Museum in Al Fahidi traces cultivation, roasting, grinding and brewing traditions from Ethiopia and Arabia to the wider world. Historic grinders, pots and demonstrations give context to Arabic coffee as a practice of hospitality and majlis etiquette, complementing the domestic architecture of the surrounding neighbourhood. A visitor can use the collections to connect individual objects with larger changes in Emirati life: oasis farming, pearling, dhow trade, household work, education, government and the transition after oil.
