Liberation Square

About this place

Located in the heart of Larache, the Place de Libération or Place España is round, surrounded by palm trees with a fountain in the center. As the central point of the city, it bridges the Medina to the east and the modern city to the west. The buildings around the square, which date back to the Spanish period, have vaulted arcades. Lanes starting from the square and going down to the sea offer beautiful views of the ocean. The square also overlooks the Bab El-Khemis Gate, made of fine horizontal bricks, which opens onto the Medina. The cornice of Larache is located nearby.
