Ancient site of TAMUDA

About this place

Tamuda derived from the Amazigh "tamda" in other words swamp, in reference to the old name of the wadi Martil, testifies to the ancient history of Morocco. Discovered in the 1920s, this site has been able to hold spellbound for decades generations of researchers and archaeologists, who over the course of excavations have been able to unearth years of history and heritage, not the least. The legend would have it that Hercules passed by there, to steal the golden apples in the famous gardens of the Hesperides. This ancient site, open to visits since 2011, is well worth a detour. Thanks to the richness of its remains and the beauty of its sites, it has become an essential stop-point for tourists and travelers.
