About this place
This fort-shaped construction, which dates back to the Portuguese period of the Tangier Wall, is composed of a terrace and a series of galleries surrounding an open-air courtyard where two Armstrong cannons, which came from Gibraltar in 1880 to reinforce the bay's defense, stand out. Also known as Borj Tophana, it is located next to Bab Marsa, the door of the port, and is home to a number of associations dedicated to acrobatic arts, painting, Gnawa music and Andalusian tradition.
