The sanctuary or Marabout of Sidy Ahmed Ben El Mahdi Bou Koudja, built in 1865, is one of the most beautiful and best preserved in Tangier. Located in the Gouma area, near the iconic mosque of the octagonal minaret of the Kasbah, and internationally famous because of its main role in the work "The Marabout" by Henri Matisse in 1912, during a stay of the French painter in Tangier.
