Nahon Synagogue

Located in an alley adjacent to the rue des synagogues, the Nahon Synagogue, dating from the mid-nineteenth century, is not only one of the "most beautiful in Morocco" but also one of the most appreciated in the world, given the number of Jews who were welcomed in Tangier during the darkest period of the twentieth century. Decorated with more than 50 silver lamps and with a plaster decoration in the Andalusian style, this synagogue represents, along with the Jewish cemetery Beit Hahayim in the medina, one of the main indicators of the importance of the Jewish community in Tangier.
