The Saida Gate

Saïda Gate is derived from Saïdi, the name of the former governor of Tetouan who occupies a great place in the hearts of the inhabitants of this city. It was customary that every student or pilgrim had to return through this door to visit this marabout. The origin of this door goes back to the middle of the XVIIth century with the urban development that this district knew. This door was known during the occupation of Tetouan in 1860 under the name of Saint Fernando or La Puerta San Fernando.
