Histoire
Bab Nouader
About this place
The construction of this gate dates back to the urban development of the city at the beginning of the 17th century with the emergence of the Nemar El Ayoun district. This door was called "Nouader" i.e. the special premises for the storage of seeds. This gate was also called in some traditions Bab El-Ayoun and it is one of the fortified artillery gates, repaired under Spanish protection but fell into ruin In 2011, the tower of this gate was restored to be operated as a market. During the Spanish occupation (1860/1862), this gate bore the Spanish name of La Puerta de Fes, the gate of Fes, because it overlooked the road leading to the city of Fes.
