Bab Okla

About this place

Built around the middle of the 16th century to go along with the urban development of Tetouan, Bab Okla or "Gateway to the Sea" is one of the seven historic gates that constitute the city's ramparts. It lies in front of the school of arts and crafts and is the most recent and one of the most visited. With two accesses, one through the main entrance and the other through another secondary one on the side, Bab Okla overlooks an interior fountain decorated with inscriptions and tiles typical of Tetouan.
