Dar Abdel Khalak Torres
About this place
The house is located in the alley of Commander Ahmed. These are the houses of the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. It belongs to a family of notables of the city who assumed great responsibility in the workings of the Moroccan state and in several political, diplomatic and administrative fields. From a technical point of view, the house belongs to a courtyard house without columns, with iron and wood frames, combining authentic tiles from Tetouan and real Italian marble. The house is a two-story building that combines a living room and a courtyard with a fountain, where there is a canal or a wall fountain on both the upper and lower floors. The house is known as the House of the Nation for hosting the first Moroccan party, the National Reform Party, founded in 1936 thanks to Professor Abdel-Khalak Torres, one of the outstanding figures of Morocco in the twentieth century. - The house still hosts the cultural and heritage activities of the city.
