About this place

This is one of the residences of the Moors who settled in Tetouan at the beginning of the 17th century. This house is located in the alley "Al-Wattia", between two large houses, the "Nimmar El-Ayoun district" and the "Trankat district". The construction of this house dates back to the Andalusian judge Mohamed bin Koraich in the middle of the 18th century. It is distinguished by its rectangular shape and its unique architecture, with its courtyard with eight columns and arcades on the lower floor and columns with capitals on the upper floor. Its architecture is distinguished by a particular style. It was the first house in the city whose courtyard was entirely decorated with an authentic Tetouanese square glaze with a nest interspersed with a fountain-shaped "peach". On the right side of the courtyard, an intertwined fountain of old Iberian glaze was erected, supplied with authentic water, and it still retains its roof that opens to the sky.
