The Grand Jardin Park
About this place
This square, which is the largest, is located between the neighborhood of El Balad and the neighborhood of Al-Rabd Al-Fouqi. On the northern side is the Merinid/Mandria Kasbah. It was known in the 16th century as the "Awlad Suleiman" plantation, and with the second urban development towards the upper rib, it became the beating heart of the city. It consists of several squares, such as the dyers' square, the butchers' square.... In this square and in its stores, new objects were sold, but most of what was sold there was used, such as old beds, wardrobes and household furniture, household utensils, carpets and heirlooms. It was in fact a public market in which everything is sold except animals and cereals. The market of Gherssa had special brokers, and it was forbidden for others to work there. In the past, at the end of the market schedule, the center of the square is completely emptied. Today, the main square is completely empty except for a few chairs in the nearby cafes.
