Upper Market Bath

About this place

This bath was built in the high hills of the city during the reign of the Naqsis dynasty, the second dynasty that ruled Tataouine after the Al-Mandri dynasty, and it was in the year 1000 AH / 1591 AD, that is to say at the end of the sixteenth century, according to the historian Ahmed al-Rahuni. The most important restorations were undertaken by Sultan Moulay Suleiman at the end of the eighteenth century and as part of major reforms that affected all the public facilities of the upper market corner of Sidi Ali Baraka, the mosque of the upper market, a space for ablutions and fountains.
